At some point, an old unknown component got into my hands and disappeared in a box of components. But now I wanted to know what treasure I had. It is obviously a crystal oscillator for 776 kHz. The inscriptions allow identification, it is a type QS2 quartz from the company Telefunken, which was installed in the 30WSa WW2 transmitter (1.12 MHz - 3.0 MHz), inter alia, around 1941.
Is this component, which is probably predate 75 years old, still functional? A quickly assembled solid state (with JFET) Pierce oscillator as a test circuit works immediately and oscillates exactly to 776.00 kHz. This is German high-class workmanship!
